Tis the season to budget
Tis the Season for More
This is the season for more everything. There is more cheer, more decorations, more family (maybe more than you can handle…lol!), more friends, more giving, more thankfulness, more compassion, more love, more togetherness, more cards, more gifts, more lending and more MAJOR SPENDING.
Yes… you will spend more this season than you have all year because it’s the season for it right? However, the question is: Does it have to be though?
This season you will be getting those Christmas bonuses and extra money from family and friends and your first thought will be to jump in the season spirit and spend till there is nothing left.
Hold on. Take a step back from the ledge, turn around and lets come up with a better plan for spending and budgeting this season, And one that will have more sentimental value to you and your loved ones.
- Instead of splurging on expensive gifts that may be thrown in the back of a closet somewhere. Use your money wisely. Creating gifts from simple sentimental things like pictures, images and craft items can make for gifts that will be displayed and have lasting memories.
- Don’t max out the credit cards. Putting aside a budgeted amount of money for holiday shopping and festivities will help prevent you from spending too much money. By not maxing out the credit cards you will also avoid creating another bill that you have to pay after the holidays are over.
- Make charitable donations by giving away some of those items you have accumulated over the years that you don’t use anymore. Like the golf clubs, skis, tennis rackets and even that old car that you said you would fix up but lost interest in fixing. All of these items donated can be given as tax credits with the receipts given from the organization you donate to. How’s that for putting money back in your pocket?
Tis the season for many memorable moments. Make the most of them by maximizing your budgets and creating lasting memories.
