Soup for your stuffed up sinuses

Welcome back to Man Cave Mondays! Pollen is in the air and it just does’t care. Yeah pretty corny I know but it’s true. Around this time of year some of us suffer from the worst allergy symptoms. So even though it’s summer time, it would be good to get some soup running through our stuffed up sinuses.

So I decided to pick one of my favorite fish, Tilapia. It’s one my favorites because it’s high in protein and omega 3’s but it’s also not as salty or fishy tasting as others. I knew I wanted to get some Kale in this recipe so I threw it in. Kale is so easy to cook in a bunch of different ways, it was a no brainer. I knew I had to make the stew tasty so I added turmeric for anti-inflammatory purposes. I then found some oregano, a pinch of salt, and crush garlic to unclog the arteries.

You want to make sure you cook the fish separately before adding it to the soup, to stay away from cross contamination. So pull out the skillet it and lightly season the tilapia with lemon and pepper. I usually like to steam everything to avoid the use of olive oil. So add a little water to the pan and get to it!

Now you want all of your flavors to be just right in your stew so boil your water and add your ingredients. You can add the kale last, as it will cook up pretty quickly.  Here’s is where you can get as creative as you want. Add cilantro, basil, red pepper, or what ever makes you happy. You can always just use the savored flavor we have created. After your pot has finished boiling over and your tilapia is  steamed up, you can then add you each to a bowl. And there you have it!
