Healthy recipes at Open Hand Community Project
Our visit was extremely pleasant! We walked in ready to help out and the staff was very welcoming.
We sat down to fill out some paperwork and shortly after we were on a roll. The staff asked us to split into groups. Some of us packed food and some of us cleaned the kitchen, where they cooked all food.
While cleaning the kitchen we were able to get some of the healthy recipes at open hand community project through some of the chefs. You will hear some in the video clip! Open hand prepares 5,000 meals a day for people who have diabetes, cancer, HIV, and other diseases that enable them to cook. These particular meals are made with non processed foods and plenty of vegetables. After meals are made, then they are sent to the testing department to make sure they test good and were made properly.
If and when you get a chance you should definitely try and stop by to help them out. Feeding that many people with just a few cooks and a few staff to clean can become quite challenging. The staff if extremely friendly and are grateful to be apart of the organization.
