Getting the best sleep for you and baby
Getting the best sleep for you and your baby
In the last months of your pregnancy you don’t get much sleep. That’s just the way it is! Finding better ways to sleep and/or soothe your body and your baby in your room can help. I have tried pillows in between my legs and have my husband massaging me every night. After a while the pillows just don’t seem to add up and troubling hubby to stay awake and massage my back can get a bit tiring. I figured by using the white noise sound machine, it may help out a bit more with the relaxation. I usually would go on YouTube and find some sort of ocean sound to relax me prior to my pregnancy if I’ve had a stressful day. However waking up in between to change sounds can be a bit annoying. The “Baby Oasis” white noise sound machine has totally worked wonders for me and the baby in my womb. It is perfect for getting the best sleep for you and baby for sure.
The great thing about the “Baby Oasis” is that it’s super small and easy to carry around or even just leave it in the bed. It doesn’t take up much space which is what I love about it. Not only that, but it comes with an SD card with all the different sounds. The sounds that are on here are different from the normal sound machine sounds that you would typically hear in this type of product. Sure it has the birds sound and the sound of water and the ocean, however there are some other magical sounds infused by the “Baby Oasis“. The other sounds include heartbeat and prenatal sounds that the baby is already familiar with. When the baby is fidgeting in my belly at night I turn on the sound machine and put the volume low and right next to my belly to calm the baby. It has really helped me and baby stay pretty calm at night. Before I know it, the baby is no longer moving and I am knocked out like a light. Not to mention my husband who has had a long hard day of work definitely likes the sound and knocks out like a light as well. What I like most is that I’m already getting my baby used to the sounds that she will hear once she is in the real world. The sounds of comfort will definitely work and put her to sleep at night. While it is so hard for a newborn to get acclimated to their new environment, I’m hoping that these sounds will ease her into familiarality and soothe her while she gets comfortable in her new crib and nursery.
White noise can come from a variety of sources. White noise sound for a newborn’s nursery can come from apps for Android and Apple that play white noise, a radio tuned to an AM station, or sound machines, to name a few but there’s nothing like having your own device. Many parents can be heard “shushing” their upset baby. This “shushing” sound is an imitation of the sounds heard in the womb. A white noise machine creates this shushing noise, without the risk of you running out of breath. This sound triggers the calming reflex in baby, allowing her to get back to her normal state. When your baby is older (generally after their 1st birthday) you can gradually start to decrease the volume of the white noise. If they continue to sleep well, you’re done. If they wake up more frequently then they used to turn the white noise back on. However let’s be clear most of us adults can use white noise on a regular basis to reduce stress. So either way owning one of these is magical.
