Fibromyalgia may not only affect Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is one of many celebs to finally find a name for their problem. After postponing her tour due to chronic pain, the singer revealed that she’s been battling fibromyalgia late last year, opening up the conversation for others with chronic illnesses.

Fibromyalgia is one of the most common chronic pain conditions, affecting more than 5 million women and men in the United States. Fibromyalgia pain is different than the pain you may experience from a headache or sprained ankle, but it is just as real.

Gaga says she was suffering from fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that causes muscle pain, plus symptoms like mood problems and fatigue. “I have chased this pain for five years, but when I feel the adrenaline in my music and my fans, I can fucking go.”

From medication to lifestyle changes, these tactics can help fight fibro. If you’re living with fibromyalgia, you already know that there is no cure for the pain and fatigue you often feel. Fortunately, with medications, self care strategies and lifestyle modifications, living with fibromyalgia can be a little easier.
