Switching up the workout

switch up the workout

If you are hitting the gym daily or even weekly. Things can tend to get boring. Although you want to make sure you are working out daily or at least 3 times a week, doesn’t mean it needs to be the same routine over and over. Modifying your workout to make it more fun can be helpful and keep you from getting bored. We casually fall into the same routine then subconsciously get tired of it because we are not adding spice.

I personally just try and do something small to get my mind off the pain and keep me busy. I say pain because being bored is painful to me. lol But don’t get me wrong, I’m also in pain with certain moves I am trying to focus on at the time. If the move is new, it can definitely cause pain. And even if it’s not new, it can sometimes cause pain if it has been a couple of day or if your muscles are still sore from a workout the day before. Either way these are all reasons you want to start switching up the workout.

During your workout move around a bit. Try not to stay in one position. As you can see in the video I created, I reverse my lunge just so I’m not standing in one place and looking at the same spot on the same wall. Sounds crazy but these little tricks are just mental games to keep your mind moving throughout the workout. Think about all the things you have to deal with throughout the day that may not be so fun. Yeah exactly! Now you know why it is very minuscule but imperative to work through these strenuous workouts.

The other thing I did in the video was arm lifts while I was planking. I don’t know about you but planking is such a mind game for me and if I don’t do something while I’m planking I will go buzerk. Yes… it drives me nuts! When you add these 5 pounders to your planks, your not only switching up the workout but your working your core and arms more. The movement is what’s helping you keep your mind off the dullness and/or pain from the workout. Think about it…but not too hard or you will get bored! 🙂
