Tommy Ford abdomen aneurysm
Entertainer Tommy Ford has passed away at the age of 52. Ford was best known for his role as “Tommy” in the hit 90s comedy series “Martin.” Tommy was the friend who always talked about working but no one ever really knew what he did…and quite frankly I don’t think we ever found out. According to reports Ford was recovering from a knee surgery when a ruptured aneurysm in his abdomen put him in state of unconsciousness. His family released a statement late Wednesday to let everyone of know his passing. Ford has touched so many peoples lives throughout his career, as he was not only an actor, but a motivational speaker, writer, author, and director. Although he was recovering from a knee injury, there weren’t other reports of any major health issues that Ford was having. You may wonder, how could someone so healthy suffer from an aneurysm.
An aneurysm is an arterial condition in which the wall of an artery weakens, creating a bulge, or distension of the artery. The two most common locations for aneurysms are aortic aneurysm (occurring in the abdomen) and a cerebral aneurysm (occurring in the brain.) Once an aneurysm occurs it is not always evident. Research shows there are a number of risk factors that are known to be associated with how aneurysms develop. If there is back pain or a pulsating sensation in the abdomen, that could lead to possible signs that you may want to visit a doctor. The real health risk factor is if the aneurysm ruptures, it is not until then that your health could be in great danger, potentially leading to death. Once ruptured the only prevention at that point would be surgery to stop the internal bleeding. So is there anything you could do to stop an aneurysm from happening?
According to medical research the best way to stop an aortic aneurysm is to avoid the factors that put you at a higher risk for one. For example, smoking and excessive drinking are risk factors. A healthier diet is another way to minimize the risk factors. Realistically, you can’t stop an aneurysm.
As always, you want to consult with your doctor for recommendations that will work for you. Although there is no clear way to prevent aneurysms, you can still be aware of the factors that may lead up to one. Listen to your body, pay attention to unwarranted changes and seek medical attention when needed. It’s a sad time in the entertainment world as we mourn the loss of this talented brother Tommy Ford. We will remember him for all the positive contributes and great laughs he has left with us!
