Go natural with Alicia Keys
Natural Movement!
Singer/songwriter and Grammy winner Alicia Keys has been making some noise recently with her new movement. The “No Make-up” movement was created by Keys to recognize and appreciate the beauty of ones natural self. Many people have praised Keys on her new stance because it is embracing the realness of humanity, showing people all over the world that you don’t have to hide behind make-up to feel beautiful. While most are in support of the songstress effort, there are still some people who beg to differ.
Wearing make-up seems to have become the norm now and days. Females have become susceptible to it and are starting at a younger age year over year. So when we as a people see a celebrity such as Alicia Keys make a bold move, we have to recognize the positive influence that she possesses. Now this is not to say that wearing make-up is a bad thing, realistically you want to feel made up every now and then and there is nothing wrong with that. However based on what society thinks, when it becomes an everyday “norm” to step out with full face of make-up just for a grocery run, maybe something has to be reconsidered. Celebrities are often praised upon and looked at as role models for our younger generation, but what many people fail to mention is the reality behind the mask. These celebrities are human just like you, they are in front of cameras the majority of their lives but when they are at home, enjoying family time or just having a day off they do not wear a “beat” face.
There are so many reasons to go natural like Alicia keys:
- Make up can cause your pours to clog therefor causing your skin become acne pron.
- To embrace your natural beauty instead of covering it with makeup or paint, so to speak.
- Have you ever noticed that you are sometimes late to an appointment because you had to put on makeup? Yes, I sure have! It consumes too much time.
- Makeup can take a lot of money to invest in, especially if you want to use the “major brands” that claim to last all day and be blemish free.
- If you are an animal lover then you would definitely say no way to make up. Most makeup contains animal products.
What Alicia Keys is doing is more than just saying “go bare” or don’t wear make-up. She is providing a realistic view what natural beauty really means. Recognizing that she is a role model, Keys is using her status to empower and encourage women all over to embrace their natural beauty. Be happy with your God given beauty. Perfection is unrealistic and is only perfect in the world of a made up perfect society. This movement not only has encouraged women across the world, but men too are joining in. Huffpost reported that the hashtag #nomakeup has produced over 12 million results thus far. “Keys is hardly the first celebrity to pose bare-faced, but there is something so powerful about the stance she has decided to take-and its resonating with fans.” The feeling of empowerment to be ones truest self is definitely a movement I can join. How do you feel about the “No Make-up” movement? Is it contradictory because she’s a high profile celebrity or do you find it empowering?
