Baskets from Rumson Gifts

Upon entering the store to check out the trunk show and meet Catherine McGahan, the owner of Rumson gifts, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The store is tucked away in what looks like a residential area on east paces ferry rd in buckhead Atlanta. But as soon as I got up the steps, my eyes were fixated on the gorgeous artwork hanging. As I looked around I saw jewlery, hats, and ah ha I spotted the good eats.

Catherine has been in business since 2007 and was extremely pleasant to talk to. She shared stories about each one of her products. They range from all parts of the country, made by many small unrecognized vendors. They all have character and an amazing quality. These hand made goods were picked by Catherine, who has a keen eye for these patterns and styles.

I wanted to buy a basket for my mom for Mother’s day. I explained my Mom was Italian and we wanted some great food, yet healthy choices. Catherine helped me pick some special product to place in the basket, then recommended I head to the back of the store where I can find Italian made materials sold by her sister in law, Sheila McGahan Monardo. So we made our way to the back of the store, where Sheila had hand made woven claud from Italy, by Busatti.  And let me just tell you, if you’d like to take an inexpensive trip to Italy and back, she will help you.

Sheila talked so highly of Italy and the italian people. She’s been to visit quite a few times and her husband is Italian. Her love for the material makes you want a piece of it. The hand made materials for your kitchen, powder room, or bathroom had a very stern feel to them. The materials seemed smooth enough for comfort but tough enough to last a long time.  I found a perfect piece to add to the basket!
